About

Airy, atmospheric, and cinematic, Jazzie Young's music mixes confessional songwriting with the modern hooks of indie music to create a unique and richly textured sound. Born in northern California in 1994, Jazzie moved to Hawaii as an infant and spent her formative years on the Big Island. There, she began playing classical piano and violin at 3 years old, eventually adding ukulele, recorder, and guitar to the list. After moving to South Carolina as a teenager, she started writing songs of her own, laying the foundation for a music career that would eventually bring her back to her West Coast roots.

She released her first EP grown up & grown apart in May, 2021, which was recorded at her father, Jesse Colin Young from The Youngblood’s, old studio in the Bay Area. Along with the 7 track record, Jazzie released story driven music videos to accompany each song, 3 of which were released as a trilogy piece. The trilogy chronicled the emotional journey from “suppression to acceptance” and tied 3 of the tracks’ narratives together

Her sophomore release - a five track EP titled 27 club - dropped in August of 2022. This time around, she recorded at LA based MooseCat Recording Studio, where she honed her sound and artistic style even more. For this record, Jazzie released 5 individual videos that followed a specific color, mood, and storyline to match each song off of the EP. This added a deeper layer of storytelling to her already visually abundant and intimate songwriting.

During the summer of 2022, Jazzie accompanied Jesse Colin Young on the Highway Troubadour Tour that spanned up and down the western coast. Finishing up the last few shows in February 2023, she set her sights on her next artistic project and began writing.

Now, with a new set of freshly written songs, Jazzie looks toward recording her first full length album, with plans to begin production in the summer of 2023.
